The Geisha coffee bean, also referred to as Gesha, refers to the same variety of coffee bean. Its name comes from Ethiopia's Gesha Mountain, and it sounds similar to the famous Japanese Geisha, hence the name.

The Bench Maji region is located in the southwest of Ethiopia, just a few kilometers from the South Sudan border. It is the birthplace of the native Gesha variety and one of the two main forest coffee regions in Ethiopia, along with the Kafa Forest. Together, they account for 10% of the country's coffee production. The Panamanian Gesha coffee was also transplanted from here. In addition to the native Gesha coffee, there are many other indigenous coffee varieties. Local farmers almost exclusively grow and fertilize their coffee organically. Coffee trees in the forest are planted under the shade of larger trees, benefiting from abundant rainfall, fertile soil, and a rich ecological environment. The use of natural shade and intercropping methods helps develop unique coffee aromas while ensuring sustainable environmental practices.
