Kenya AA TOP grade is the highest grade selected from coffee beans screened through mesh No. 19-20, with the largest and most full-bodied high-quality beans!

Located in East Africa, Kenya is one of the major coffee-producing countries, with over six million people involved in the coffee industry, mainly in smallholder and cooperative farming systems. Many coffee-growing regions in Kenya make great efforts to preserve native forest ecosystems, protect natural gene pools, and support the reproduction of wild coffee varieties, resulting in a diverse range of coffee trees.

Kenyan coffee trees are mostly planted at altitudes of 1,400 to 2,000 meters. Coffee-growing areas include Ruiri, Thika, Kirinyaga, Mt. Kenya West, Nyeri, Kiambu, and Muranga, with Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare Mountain foothills being the main regions.

Wamuguma Factory, established in 1972, is located 40 kilometers north of the capital Nairobi, in the northernmost part of the Kiambu region, at an altitude of about 1,800 meters, with an annual rainfall of around 1,100mm. It belongs to the Ritho Farmers' Cooperative Society, together with the Handege Factory, with about 500 hectares of cultivation, owned by 2,548 smallholder farmers, averaging less than 0.2 hectares per farmer. It is a well-managed cooperative.

Kenya has two harvest seasons each year, from April to June and from October to December. During the harvest season, the factory sends the beans with husks to the auction agents for hulling and sorting, awaiting the weekly NCE (Nairobi Coffee Exchange) auction in the capital.

In 1930, the SL (Scott Laboratories) experimental lab developed and named two special Kenyan varieties, SL28 and SL34. According to the lab's botanists, SL28 and SL34 are genetic variants that perfectly represent the unique Kenyan coffee style. SL28 has a mixed heritage of French Mission, Mocha, and Yemen Typica, while SL34 has French Mission, Bourbon, and more Typica lineage.

The initial goal of breeding SL28 was to produce high-quality coffee beans in large quantities that could resist pests and diseases. While the yield of SL28 is not as large as expected, the beans, with their copper-colored leaves and broad, flat shape, exhibit excellent sweetness, balance, and complex flavors, along with a distinctive umami profile. SL34, while similar in flavor and bean appearance to SL28, is richer in fruity acidity and has a more captivating sweet finish. It offers a deeper, cleaner cup, and can better adapt to sudden heavy rainfall.
